Normal operations have resumed at O.R.Tambo International Airport, following an aborted take-off by a chartered MD-82 aircraft operated by Global Aviation, earlier today.
According to ACSA’s Unathi Batyashe-Fillis, Manager: Communication and Brand Management at O.R. Tambo International Airport, onsite reports indicate that one of the aircraft’s tyres burst and a wheel caught fire, which resulted in the pilot aborting take-off.
The aircraft was carrying 120 passengers and seven crew members, who have since, safely disembarked from the plane and are being kept in a secure location.
