Monday, October 10, 2011 | 00:00

O.R. Tambo International Airport will today host the South African Rugby Union and its key sponsors as they welcome the first group of Springbok players and management.

“The hub airport promises to be a hive of activity as the South African public comes out in support of the Springboks following the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Dancers organised by the O. R. Tambo International community will perform as the team comes through the International Airport,” says Unathi Batyashe-Fillis, ACSA’s Communications and Brand Manager at O.R. Tambo International Airport.

Head coach Peter de Villiers, Springbok Captain John Smit, Vice- Captain Victor Matfield and several other senior team members will be accompanied by the Minister for Sport and Recreation Fikile Mbalula.  A media conference will be held by SARU at O.R. Tambo International’s Media Centre adjacent to the SA Post Office) shortly after the team’s arrival at 17h00.

“Airport staff will help facilitate both the dignitaries as well as the players. Media are advised to contact SARU in connection with flight details and also check flight arrival times as the conference will begin shortly after the team lands, says Batyashe-Fillis
