The 4th of July 2011 marked the first day during which many of Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) staff dedicated just 67 minutes of their time to a worthy cause. Once again ACSA staff demonstrated how much they really care about their fellow South Africans, especially those less fortunate.
Donning overalls, 35 staff members from O.R. Tambo International Airport and Corporate Office boarded a bus at the airport to travel to the Soweto Kliptown Youth Foundation (SKY). They had all made a commitment to support a cause close to Madiba’s heart by bringing care and joy to the children. On arrival the ACSA team was greeted with smiles and much anticipation. Hitting the ground running the team rolled up its sleeves and eagerly started working on its selected activities, ranging from painting and cleaning the facilities; to gardening; providing food to the children and lifting their spirits with some lively entertainment!
The smiles and tears of joy in the eyes of the SKY children were enough to realise a real and meaningful difference had been made.
Well done and thank you to those who dedicated their time and helped show the world, that like our first democratic leader, we are a group of South Africans who care for each other.
