Airports Company South Africa can confirm that Afriqiyah Airways 8U771 (Airbus A330-200), which left Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport at 21:37 last night (11 May) crashed in Tripoli this morning.
Afriqiyah Airways has confirmed that 104 passengers and crew were on board the flight, which was expected to land in Tripoli at 06:00am today.
A press conference has been scheduled for all media at 13h30 today at the Tau Boardroom on the 4th floor of the ACSA offices. As the airport authority from whose airport the flight originated, ACSA is deeply saddened by this news and is rendering essential support to the airline, who is leading all official public engagement.
