Airports Company South Africa, Cape Town International Airport (ACSA CTIA) opened the Domestic Arrivals Link this morning at 06h00. The link will take arriving passengers from the newly extended baggage hall to the Ground floor of the Central Terminal Building (CTB). The old Domestic Arrival entrance and exit doors were closed last night after the arrival of the last flight.
The link between the Domestic Arrivals Terminal and the Central Terminal Building (CTB) routes airport users to the ground floor of the CTB, allowing them access to more retail and restaurant options and facilitating them to the Transport Plaza and the recently opened Consolidated Central Car Rental facility .
A waiting area has been created for meeters and greeters outside the link and this is located past the ABSA bank. Meeters and greeters coming to collect arriving passengers are advised to come to the ground floor of the Central Terminal Building and turn right after Woolworths walk towards the ABSA bank. “The pieces of the airport puzzle are coming together and we are seeing the final phases of construction come to completion, says ACSA CTIA Communications Manager, Deidre Hendricks. “Not only is there a brand new link to the CTB for Domestic Arriving passengers, but the baggage hall has also been extended with an additional 2 baggage belts bringing the total to six in the Domestic Arrivals Hall. to the ,”said Hendricks.
With the opening of the Domestic link to the Central Terminal Building, a further 4 new retail stores will be opening. These retails stores are located next to ABSA Bank right next to the meters and greeters area. They include Sunglasses Hut, Cosmic Candy, Vodacom and MTN. “Five new retail stores also came on stream in the Domestic Departures lounge area recently, increasing the retail offering even further. The completion of these retail stores marks the final phase of retail construction in the Domestic Departures Terminal. The shops include another Mugg & Bean, Wimpy, Exclusive Books, Brittans Sweet store and another Sunglass Hut.” Hendricks added.
Other projects set for completion in the next month include the Road Network system, Parkade 1 and the Transport Plaza and additional aircraft parking stands.
