Johannesburg, 27 September 2007: Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) today confirmed that it was giving its full support to the upcoming Airports Industry Showcase that takes place, from 31 October to 2 November 2007 at the Sandton Convention Centre.
The Airports Industry Showcase will create a platform to enable African airport role-players to meet with suppliers of industry products, services and technologies available from South Africa, and internationally. It will focus on the development of African airports in terms of promoting trade, investment and tourism in the continent.
Exhibitors taking part in the exhibition include Equity Aviation, Denel Aviation and ZEAG SA, and visitors from African airport management companies, municipalities, airlines and civil aviation authorities, to name but a few, will find the show of particular interest.
“The Showcase was launched in 2005 and attracted quality visitors from 22 countries. This year the Showcase promises to be even better. We are very pleased to welcome on board ACSA as a primary sponsor. They are a key service provider in the aviation industry, not only in South Africa, but on the continent,” says Jo Melville, managing director of Exhibitions for Africa and organisers of the event. This year’s event will run concurrently with Afribuild 2007, a business-to-business exhibition that will provide a platform for all participants in the construction cycle to network with decision makers in the investment community and their contractors.
Says Solomon Makgale, communication manager of ACSA: “We see the showcase as an important forum for our industry, and as such, ACSA will be the primary sponsor of this pivotal event. We are also very pleased that our Minister of Transport Jeff Radebe will be present to officially open the event.”
Makgale believes the Showcase is an appropriate medium to bring all the role players in the industry together. “It gives us, as airport owners and operators, the opportunity to demonstrate the vital role played, not only in ensuring safe, secure and efficient transportation of passengers and freight, but also in facilitating tourism - one of the most important sectors in this country.”
“Our plan is to ensure that this will continue to grow in stature. We therefore encourage all other role players who are key in the industry to support the Airport Industry Showcase initiative,” concludes Makgale.
