1 December 2006 – Top seed Kgothatso Montjane won the Women’s Singles title while French player Regis Harel clinched the Men’s Singles title in the ACSA Border Open Finals held in East London yesterday. The tournament was sponsored by Airports Company South Africa (ACSA).

“We are delighted to be supporting the ACSA Border Open as part of our corporate social investment strategy. Through local tournaments like this we hope to raise the profile of wheelchair tennis in South Africa and help our athletes gain vital match playing experience. ACSA congratulates, not only the winners of the tournament, but every player that competed.” commented Charmaine Lodewyk, ACSA’s Communications and Brand Group Executive.

Monjane (ranked 64 in the world) beat Tshilidzi Muanolo 6/0, 6/0 during an impressive performance that saw her strong base line play and solid tournament experience winning through. Muanolo, however regained her composure, during the women’s doubles when together with her partner Nancy Moremi, they convincingly beat Montjane and Themba in the Women’s Doubles finals - 6/1, 6/2.

In the Men’s Singles visiting French player Regis Harel clinched the title after beating South African top seed Adrian Hubbard. Harel just had the edge over Hubbard and won the match 6/1, 6/4.
