Johannesburg, 4 September 2013 - Airports Company South Africa handed over two Toyota Quantam buses to Hope School in Westcliff today. Hope School provides quality education to over 200 learners with disabilities from the age of three years to Grade 12.  The buses  will ensure that school continues to meet the growing transportation needs.
“Children are the future of our country and we recognise how important it is for them to get to school on time and safely. For this reason, Airports Company South Africa has gone out of its way to give Hope School these two fitted Quantaum buses,” Unathi Batyashe Fillis, Airports Company South Africa spokesperson.
Airports Company South Africa has been involved with Hope School for a number of years through wheelchair tennis and its Wheelchair Donation Programme. Through its on-going CSI initiatives, the company has been able to address the needs of learners through custom made wheelchairs, helping them grow in confidence, gain a measure of independence and reach their full potental.
“Without these buses, our learners would not be in a position to attend Hope School. With their disabilities and assistive devices, they cannot always make use of public transport. If we look at the distance they may have to walk to a taxi rank or bus stop and consider that some of their parents are not in a posititon to transport their children, Hope School has to provide assistance with transport,” said Mr Gert Viljoen, Principal at Hope School.
“Hope School is thrilled with our new buses. We now have a magnificent fleet that is so important to us. We thank Airports Company South Africa – with your help, we are now able to continue to create a bright future for our learners,” added Viljoen.
