On 12 May 2010, Afriqiyah Airways lost flight U8 771 during landing. The flight from Johannesburg to Tripoli was carrying 93 passengers and 11 crew members.

Airports Company South Africa can confirm that Afriqiyah Airways 8U771 (Airbus A330-200), which left Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport at 21:37 last night (11 May) crashed in Tripoli this morning.
