O.R. Tambo International Airport is undergoing a R3 billion overhaul to gear up for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, ever-increasing passenger numbers and new-generation aircraft.
Flight and passenger numbers will soar at O. R. Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) during the 2010 Soccer World Cup. To cope with this massive expected influx, a R3 billion infrastructure development project is well underway at ORTIA, part of ACSA’s R5.2 billion development programme.
Major projects currently underway are:
Central Terminal Building (R2 billion)
Terminal A Departures Upgrade and relocation of upper roadway (R76 million)
While development work is in progress, ACSA focuses intensified attention on passenger care and the safety of airport users to ensure that the airport experience remains pleasant and memorable despite the construction activities.
